Police could release surveillance video Friday of a violent attack at a Dollar Store in Norcross.
It happened Thanksgiving just after 7 p.m. at the store located on Indian Trail-Lilburn Road.
A 16-year-old clerk, who was alone, said an armed robber pepper-sprayed and punched her in the face before robbing her and taking money from the cash register.
"We can't say much about the perpetrator physically, but he was very brutal, very brutal, and excessively so we would say," said Corporal Jake Smith with the Gwinnett County Police Department. "This was not a calm robbery we see from some suspects."
The assault didn't end there.
"He attempted to sexually assault her, he attempted to force her into having oral sex," said Smith.
Police said the man then forced her to the back of the store to the video gambling machines. When she explained to the man the machines contained no cash, he finally left.
"She's recuperating. She's getting better, but that's a trauma right there," said Jonathan Gonzalez Friday, a friend of the victim's. Gonzalez said she would not be returning to work at the store.
Investigators said they could release surveillance video Friday in hopes of generating leads.
"We find it pretty likely that when somebody commits a crime like this and it is as violent as it is, that they have committed other crimes," said Smith. "Detectives are actually comparing this robbery to other armed robberies in the area to see if there are any potential matches."
"I just hope the guy's caught and put away," said Gonzalez.
