People who knew Jordan Davis say he was a good young man.
"He was just a typical teenager and wanted to have fun. He liked to listen to his music and was kind of a family kid, he's just a really good kid," said Willie Guzman, a friend and neighbor.
Friday night Davis' life came to an end in a hail of bullets.
Police said the 17-year-old was gunned down by 45-year-old Michael Dunn in the parking lot of a Jacksonville, FL convenience store.
"He was just having fun with his friends on a Friday night, hanging out at the mall and I guess going home, a guy just pulled up next to him and didn't like the music they were playing and said it was too loud," said Guzman.
Investigators said after exchanging words with the teens, Dunn pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting Davis several times. Dunn has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. He said it was self-defense because someone in the SUV flashed a gun.
Police said the teens had no weapons.
"You shot him over some music and he was in the car and there is nothing logical that you can say that can make me believe you were threatened," said Lucia McBath, Davis' mother.
"To me it is just is something that is really senseless, there is no rhyme of reason for it. No matter what happens in life, that kid or any kid doesn't deserve to go the way he did," said Guzman.
Funeral services for Davis are pending.
