Denmark's Royal Theater has canceled a play about Amy Winehouse after the Danish copyright agency withdrew permission to use the late singer's music.
The reason for the decision is not yet clear. The production was scheduled to begin January 30 in a 220-seat theater in central Copenhagen.
The play, titled "Amy", was based on interviews, concerts, Winehouse's letters and newspaper articles. A group of eleven Danish playwrights wrote it. The play depicted her life and battles with drugs and alcohol.
The Grammy-winning British soul singer died from alcohol poisoning at age 27 last year.
