Chalavon Johnson and three others were rushed to the hospital on Thanksgiving Day after a deck they were on collapsed.
Johnson and her 2-year-old son Isaiah were about to leave a family Thanksgiving get-together when they fell.
"My aunt and I reached for him the same time so she could give him a hug and I could take him back in the house, and then we were on the ground. It was like, it happened in a blink," Johnson said.
Johnson called the scene chaotic.
"It was hollering and crying. Everybody was screaming," Johnson said.
Johnson said her back hurt as she lay on the ground, but her biggest concern was Isaiah.
"Me and my aunt had the same reaction. He was wrapped in my arms and I was wrapped in my aunt's arms, so she covered - we broke his fall basically. He did not have a single scratch or mark on him," Johnson said.
Johnson broke her left ankle. Her aunt broke her right foot. Another cousin had pins put in her broken leg.
"It was very traumatizing, but we're all OK. We all have broken bones, but we're still OK. My son's OK, that's the biggest thing. My son's OK," Johnson said.
The collapse happened at the home Johnson's aunt rents. She said they're working with the owner on repairs.
