The CBS Atlanta News team is giving back to the community this Thanksgiving.
Adam Murphy, JaQuitta Williams and Bernard Watson helped prepare Thanksgiving meals for those in need on Tuesday.
The team was joined by Food Bank supporter John Smoltz, Atlanta Dream Player Lindsey Harding, and other local journalists.
"Now that my family is old enough to come here and actually contribute and serve is great. I am all about being able to serve and make a difference and Atlanta Community Food Bank has been doing that for a long time. I am so honored to be a part of it," Smoltz said.
The 14th annual Great Thanksgiving Dish will provide 2,700 meals for those in need in Atlanta.
"It's a great way to come together and celebrate the holiday," said Bill Bolling, with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
This year the food was prepared in the Marriott's Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Cobb County.
The feasts will be delivered to more than 15 local non-profit organizations, which include night shelters for families, congregations and recovery and rehabilitation programs.
"The need for food is growing and the opportunity to provide meals is increasing every year. I think when we first started it, we were in the thousands of meals, you know 1,000 to 1,100. We are now serving 2,700 meals," said Smoltz.
On Thanksgiving Day, volunteers will work three shifts to deliver the food.
They will start at 10 a.m. and finish up at 5 p.m.
