COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A pedestrian struck on South Cobb Drive has died, according to Cobb County police. Jose Luis Zamarripa-Perez, 55, of Smyrna, attempted to cross the street near the intersection of Waldrep Circle.
Preliminary investigation shows that a black 1990 Jeep Cherokee traveling southbound struck Zamarripa-Perez, who was not using the crosswalk.
Zamarripa-Perez was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The driver of the Jeep, Nafisa Sheriff, 63, is not expected to be charged, according to Cobb County police. An investigation continues and police ask that anyone with information call 770-499-3987.
