ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Democratic Rep. John Lewis of Atlanta will return to Congress for a 14th term.
Lewis, a key figure in the 1960s civil rights movement, has defeated Republican Howard Stopeck in Tuesday's election. Unofficial returns show Lewis had 88 percent of the vote with 7 percent of precincts reporting in the congressman's heavily Democratic 5th District.
The 72-year-old Lewis has served in the U.S. House since 1987.
Stopeck of Atlanta is a retired attorney. His campaign failed to raise enough money to compete with Lewis.
