FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Senior receiver Cobi Hamilton broke the Arkansas
single-season receptions record and helped lead the Razorbacks to a 19-15 win
over Tulsa on Saturday.
Hamilton ended the day with 11 catches for 177 yards,
bringing his season total to 69 receptions and 1,077. Jarius Wright set the
previous high mark of 66 receptions set last season.
Tyler Wilson went 21-of-31 for 272 yards and connected with
five different Razorbacks, and Dennis Johnson rushed 22 times for 109 yards,
his second consecutive 100-yard game. Johnson scored both touchdowns for
Arkansas and grabbed three receptions for 43 yards.
The Razorbacks (4-5) took advantage of the first drive of
the game, scoring on an 8-yard rush from Johnson.
Johnson accounted for 60 of the 61 yards on the Razorbacks'
next drive, and Zach Hocker connected on a 31-yard field goal to put Arkansas
up 10-0.
The Golden Hurricane (7-2), drove 75 yards down the field and
scored a 1-yard rush by Alex Singleton, however Tulsa missed the extra point and
trailed 10-6.
Tulsa rallied to lead 15-13 in the second half, but Arkansas
sealed the game with Johnson's 1-yard score with 10:08 left to play.
Hocker missed wide left on a 26-yard field goal attempt with
3:35 left in the game.
Tulsa had one last chance after Arkansas failed to convert a
fourth-and-1 instead of attempting a 33-yard field goal with 1:07 to play.
But defensive end Chris Smith sacked Tulsa quarterback Cody
Green and forced a fumble that Byran Jones recovered.
