Residents in the Gwinnett County city of Grayson will take a second vote on whether to allow Sunday alcohol sales.
Voters overwhelmingly approved a measure last fall that allowed beer and wine sales on Sunday but not the sale of hard liquor.
On Tuesday, they will vote on whether to allow sales of all three beverages.
"It's proven to be a very beneficial day for us in our business and our customers have really accepted that," said Richard Tucker, the owner of Beverage Superstore. "A lot of people shop on Sundays."
The package store on Grayson Highway that opened last week is the first in the city's history.
The city estimates the liquor store will pump big money into the economy each year but the store has been controversial from day one. Throw in the talk of Sunday sales and the debate heats up.
"I personally don't like, don't prefer anything like that to be open on Sunday," said Grayson resident Shirley Townsend. "I think that's God's day but it's what everybody wants to do."
But supporters of Sunday sales hope the voters again give the idea their seal of approval on Tuesday.
"For people who think this is a religious issue, it absolutely isn't," said Jamie Dempsey of the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce. "It's an economic issue. If something's a sin, it's a sin all the time. If it's not, it never is."
