WOODSTOCK, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A woman was killed after the SUV she was driving hit a tree Wednesday night.
A Cherokee Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle accident on South Cherokee Drive in Woodstock around 10:20 p.m.
The passenger, Peter Kubanyi, 33, of Smyrna tried, but was unable to get the driver's door open.
Kubanyi and the deputy were able to open the door and found the driver, Lydia Bordacs, 57, of Woodstock, unresponsive inside the vehicle.
The deputy performed CPR on Bordacs before paramedics arrived and took her to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Kubanyi, Bordacs' son, received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident. Preliminary indications are that alcohol and speed played a role in the accident.
