Atlanta superintendent addresses new cheating allegations

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta Public Schools' top leader spoke only to CBS Atlanta News about allegations of cheating at North Atlanta High School.

Superintendent Erroll Davis said a district auditor is investigating a complaint of grade-changing, but Davis said he had few other details.

"The only thing I know is I got a hold, to hold all papers if it had anything to do with grade inflation, and I, excuse me, alterations. And I do not have anything about it," Davis told CBS Atlanta's Sonia Moghe Thursday night.

The investigation comes less than three weeks after five of the school's top administrators were removed, including the principal. Davis denied their departures were related to the investigation.

"This had nothing to do with their removal. I absolutely can say that," said Davis.

He said a district auditor would investigate the complaint and then provide a report to the school board.

Nearly 180 educators were accused of cheating on standardized tests in 2009.
