ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Two men are still at large after driving through a police checkpoint in northeast Atlanta early Wednesday and leading police on a brief chase before bailing out and running.

The suspects went past the checkpoint at Cheshire Bridge Road and Woodland Avenue at around 2 a.m., and officers pursued the large white pickup truck down Woodland, Capt. Adam Lee III said.

When officers caught up to the truck, the two men had abandoned the car, which eventually rolled down a hill and into an apartment complex sign.

Lee said it's unclear if the truck was stolen but it was registered to an alarm company, and a woman's purse and cell phone were found inside.

Officers were unable to locate the men, who are believed to have fled the area on foot.
