Conor Burch
HENRY COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Georgia State Patrol said they will not bring charges against the person who hit and killed an 11-year-old Henry County boy in April.
Conor Burch was struck by a van April 12 when he tried to cross L.G. Griffin Road right in front of his house to catch his school bus. He was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where he later died.
It was determined from the video and witness interviews that the bus had amber lights activated at the time, police said.
The bus had not come to a stop and had not yet activated the red lights and stop arm when Conor entered the path of the van.
Conor didn't normally have to cross the street, but on that day he wasn't there when the bus first arrived. The bus turned around and officers said Conor tried to cross the street to get to the bus, and that's when he was hit.
