COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Long lines for early voting continued Wednesday.
For example, Cobb County is averaging about 1,400 people a day at the Whitlock Avenue location in Marietta. That is the only early voting site until Thursday for that county.
Jacoby Saulter said he was shocked when he first saw the lines. He wasn't alone.
Roderick Brown has witnessed the lines on multiple occasions.
"I came Friday, then I came yesterday and the line was too long. I said 'OK, I'll come tomorrow, extra early and it will be shorter.' I came today and the line was the same thing so you know what, might as well stick it out and wait," said Brown.
It was the same game plan a lot of voters had. It took some people three hours to get through, but most said it was worth it.
"After watching the debate last night I was so fired up. I couldn't wait until Nov. 6," said Rick Anderson.
But others saw the lines and said no way. Grace Kenny said the line was unprecedented.
"Guess I might wait. Look at that. I don't want to mess with that," said Kenny.
The bad news for her is, election officials said its likely only going to get worse.
"The last week is the most busy, so we'll probably see an increase in people wanting to take advantage of early voting," said Cobb County Elections Director Janine Eveler.
Because of that, workers said your best bet might be the very thing people were trying to avoid.
"On Election Day you only have 2,000 to 3,000 people in a precinct you'll be competing with, so we really don't anticipate that long of a line on Election Day," said Eveler.
Cobb County will be opening up a second voting site at the civic center on Thursday and then a total of nine places next week.
