ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Atlanta police are looking for two armed men who sent shoppers ducking for cover when one of the men fired a shot during a jewelry store robbery inside an Atlanta shopping mall.
Investigators said the men robbed the Shirin Jewelry store located inside Greenbriar Mall in southwest Atlanta about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The wife of the store owner, who did not want to be identified, told CBS Atlanta News that the men came into the store asking to see jewelry. They then pointed a gun at her husband and another employee.
Seconds later, one of the men fired a round into a display case, breaking the glass. They then reached into the case, grabbed several pieces of jewelry and took off running, police said.
On Tuesday, police released surveillance video of the robbery.
The store owners said not enough is being done to ensure safety in the area.
"The city needs to do something," said the owner's wife. "The mayor needs to do something. Nobody can walk in broad daylight and rob public places and pull out a gun."
CBS Atlanta News learned one of the robbers cut his hand on the display case, so there's a chance he left some DNA behind.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Robbery Unit at 404-546-4255 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
