A family in mourning hopes some new information about a fatal hit-and-run accident can bring them some closure.
Larry Ward was killed on Kellogg Creek Road in Cherokee County back in July and now police know more about the vehicle that hit him before taking off from the scene.
Police knew from the very beginning they were looking for a Ford because the Ford emblem was found in the wreckage at the scene. They originally thought it was an Explorer or a Ranger, but now say it was a much bigger F-150.
That's new information in the case that Ward's family hopes will lead to an arrest.
Bobby Smith lives just up the road from the crime scene, which is marked with a cross in Ward's memory.
"It's hard for me to believe that somebody could go two months without (their) conscious eating them alive," Smith told CBS Atlanta News.
Misty Ward described the loss of her husband while in tears.
"It's hard. I've lost my best friend. My kids have to grow up without a father. He was the best man I've ever known," she said.
But unfortunately, the family hasn't been able to focus all their attention on their loss because the driver who left the scene is still on the loose.
"I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy," Misty Ward said. "I don't want this person to do this to anyone else's family. He needs to be taken off the streets."
Misty Ward said she was hoping the new information about the F-150 will help police generate more leads, but said she hopes the new info won't be necessary.
"I would just urge them to turn themselves in," she said. "Maybe someone would have a little bit of mercy on them if they confess because they won't get mercy in they're caught out right."
