ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A former Transportation Security Administration worker has pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle drugs through Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Richard C. Cook II, 27, pleaded guilty on Wednesday.
Cook is the second former Transportation Security Administration employee to try to smuggle cocaine through the airport.
In August, Timothy G. Gregory, 26, was indicted on three counts of drug trafficking.
Cook resigned from the TSA in February, but not before recruiting Gregory to participate in the drug smuggling operation, according to court documents.
Prosecutors say Cook introduced Gregory to undercover officers and received a $1,000 referral fee.
Cook and Gregory each face a maximum of life in prison and a fine up to $10,000,000.
Cook's sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 3, 2013. Gregory will be sentenced on Dec. 18, 2012.
