DALTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Dalton police officers have arrested a man who became irate and struck a restaurant manager in the face over the service he received.

Larry Bruce Mitchell, 66, turned himself into police Tuesday morning.

The incident happened on Sept. 29 shortly after 1 a.m. at the Steak n' Shake on West Walnut Avenue.

Police said Mitchell walked up to the front counter asking to speak to a manager.

Mitchell then walked around to the entrance to the grill area speaking loudly about the lack of service he received, according to the manager. When the manager asked him to step out of the employee-only area of the restaurant to make his complaint, Mitchell hit her in the face with a stack of papers, believed to be restaurant coupons, before walking out.

Customers told police Mitchell drove out of the parking lot backwards, in an apparent attempt to keep witnesses from seeing his license plate.

Mitchell arranged to turn himself in on one charge of simple assault and bonded out shortly thereafter.
