Smyrna officers locate missing Fulton County teen

FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police have located a teenager reported missing since last Friday night.

Fulton County Detective Melissa Parker said Smyrna Police received a tip Tuesday from one of the 18-year-old's friends saying she was at Campbell High School.

Officers were able to locate her at the school. She was not injured.

CBS Atlanta News has decided to no longer report the teen's name because she may be a victim of a sexual assault.

Officers said Monday the teen had last spoke to her mother around 10 p.m. on Oct. 12. She was supposedly at a football game and was going to get a ride home.

Police said she sent out a text message to a friend that raised concern and shortly thereafter called 911 before her phone shut down.

CBS Atlanta's Will Frampton spoke with the teen and she told him what happened.

"Someone else turned off your phone when you were calling 911?" asked Frampton.

"I turned it off, but it was to keep myself alive basically," said the teen.

"So you were in trouble then?" asked Frampton.

"I was in trouble, but I had to do what I had to do to survive," said the teen.

She also said she got in a car with strangers Friday night on her own accord.

CBS Atlanta News is still waiting to confirm what the teen told us with investigators.
