A new Walmart will soon open in Atlanta bringing more than 100 new jobs.
The new Supercenter in Vine City will open in January and the hiring process started Monday.
The Walmart will be hiring 150 new workers and there was no shortage of people interested.
People were lined up before 6 a.m. and at one point the line stretched all the way around the block.
Walmart officials said more than 1,400 people made it through the hiring center and even more applied on the internet.
The line was filled with people from all walks of life, all with their own stories.
Cheryl Griffin was one of the many people in line.
"I've been unemployed since April of 2011. I've applied for everything from janitor to the judge," said Griffin.
Shontavius Barnes is the same position.
"I'm here just to have better opportunity in life for me and my child," said Barnes.
For this particular area of town, the new jobs are critical.
"In this area there's a lot of unemployed people, so it's very important that they find a job here. That's why there's a lot of people in this line," said Barnes.
Most people said it's worth the wait to get not just a job, but what they say is a good job.
Coterious Stewart was actually looking to get a second job.
"If you really want something you will stand in line, and you will do what you have to do in order to obtain it," said Steward. "I'm doing what I have to do cause I want this job. I'll stand out here as long as it takes and do what I have to do."
Quincy Spring is the new Walmart's store manager.
"If a person has the dedication and determination, does hard work at any position in the company, the sky's the limit when it comes to options, availability and possibility," said Spring.
Which is why everyone in line really hopes Walmart picks them.
"It would mean the world. I would be so grateful. It would be a complete blessing to have this job," said Barnes.
There was a lot of talk about the economy still being in really rough shape.
One woman said she's tired of people saying the reason they're unemployed is because they don't want to work. She said the long line proves that's just not true.
