ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

People were staying in bed on Saturday for the second annual Atlanta Mattress 500.

Eighteen teams raced through Atlanta Station for the fundraising event. Team Wild Men won for fastest racing team. Kabbage Kares Team 1 won for bed decoration. Cox Rocks won for best costumes.

The Furniture Bank of Metro-Atlanta put on the event with the goal of raising $20,000. They raised $8,000 to help people in need get a bed to sleep on instead of having to sleep on the floor.

The group provides beds for $11 to those who cannot afford beds and the formerly homeless.

CBS Atlanta's Jeff Chirico emceed the event.
