ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
It was a day to get moving in Atlanta as hundreds of people came out for the Atlanta Fit Fest.
The goal was to get people active and help them find a workout they love.
You would think at an event like Fit Fest you would hear a lot of talk about exercises and workouts but you didn't and that wasn't an accident.
"We don't like to think of it as working out, but having fun and that's what Fit Fest is all about," said Stepp Stewart, the organizer of Fit Fest.
There were a lot of different ways to exercise, from jumping castles and trampolines, to some special kangaroo shoes.
Shani Tejuoso tried out those special shoes.
"I thought it was awesome. It was fun and I feel like I was getting a good workout," said Tejuoso.
Then there were the classes. There were a lot of options including zumba, power cardio and hip hop till you drop.
Emilia Steinkirchner loved one of the morning classes but admitted it was tough.
"I feel good. I feel stretched out and I feel like I can work some more," said Steinkirchner.
Paige Ramble got tired early as well.
"The warm up was the workout. I was afraid to move on after that. It was a lot but it was fun. We needed it," said Ramble.
And it wasn't just for the kids.
Rita Capers brought CBS Atlanta to the senior room.
"Welcome to the senior room, where we throw down," said Capers.
And she wasn't kidding. Capers and the rest of the seniors were dancing all morning and loving every minute of it.
CBS Atlanta was a proud sponsor of the event and the dancing rubbed off so much some of the staff jumped in to join the party.
Experts said staying active can make a big difference in your life, which is why Grady Hospital was there to not only help, but take part.
"We want to lead by example and that is why Grady employees are involved in this year's Fit Fest and very excited to be here," said Jeff Carney, chief of neurology at Grady Hospital.
Stewart said he used to weigh more than 250 pounds so he knows what getting active can do. He lost around 100 pounds.
"It's a game changer and a life changer," said Stewart.
