FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Longtime Buckhead homeowners never thought they'd see such immaculate properties on Cardova Drive, less than three months after CBS Atlanta exposed two overgrown properties in the neighborhood.
"We were just frankly surprised that it happened, grateful that it happened," resident Richard Sussmen said.
In July, 929 Cardova Dr. was overgrown and had a tree growing in the pool. Today, the pool has been filled in and the brush has been cleared.
"Well the pool had been back there, it was overgrown, there was I think a tree growing in the pool and it's covered over now," Sussmen said.
"I think it's fantastic, as a resident here in Lindridge Martin Manor we were all concerned about the condition of the properties, eyesore, health hazard, etc. So we're real happy to see that there's something being done," resident Andy Raper said.
It's a similar scenario next door at 923 Cardova Dr. The brush was cut back, improving the property drastically. That said, there is still work to be done to secure the vacant property.
"We'll look forward to some more improvements and look forward to having some families living in these homes," Raper said.
Tax records show that both properties are owned by Inland Empire Service Corporation.
It's uncertain what they will do with the properties going forward, but neighbors can only hope that they continue to maintain them.
"CBS Atlanta I think really had something to do with this to spur some action over here because often you just wait for things to happen, but something gets on the TV and you see action being taken," Sussmen said.
