ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Throughout the month of October, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will be asking local residents and visitors to help fight neuromuscular disease.
MDA is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related diseases.
On Friday, firefighters will be out at 431 Flat Shoals Ave. SE collecting donations in a boot.
The donations provide help and hope in many ways:
- Research - cutting-edge investigation seeking treatments and cures.
- Clinics - assist with equipment and coping with challenges.
- Camp- a barrier free week of fun, friendship and laughter for kids.
- MDA also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
Visit mda.org for information on how MDA makes a difference to the citizens of Atlanta and people around the country.
