ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Atlanta Police Department and other federal agencies joined forces to fight crime with Project Steel Curtain in the Pittsburgh community in Fulton County.
According to officials, crime-fighting and community-oriented interdiction detail is concluding Oct. 12 with the announcement of 105 arrests for crimes ranging from burglaries to homicides.
Over five months, almost $4,000 cash and more than $81,000 in street value of drugs were seized.
Residents said they can see improvement.
"I think it's made a big difference," said Devita Carter, who added that things have come a long way since she moved into the neighborhood one year ago.
"It was not safe, there was a lot of gun shots at night. I didn't want to come out of the house at night time."
On Thursday, Project Steel Curtain organizers held a meeting to talk about their progress.
"(The Steel Curtain Project) has really helped for people to kind of internalize the fact that law enforcement is here to assist them, and kind of helps get us away from that us versus them mentality," said Sgt. Frank Ruben of the Atlanta Police Department.
