CANTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A suicidal man, who was waving a weapon at Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies, was shot and killed Saturday in Canton.
Deputies were called to a home on Hideaway Acres on a domestic dispute and suicidal threats. When they arrived on the scene they encountered a man outside the house firing a .45-caliber handgun. Deputies said they ordered the man to drop the weapon and he refused.
He was shot by deputies and died later from his injuries.
Howard Baker, a spokesman for the Cherokee Sheriff's department, said the deputies are on routine administrative leave with pay while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigates the shooting.
