Caylie Edge's mug shot
BUFORD, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The suspect charged in the accident which killed a former Buford High School football player has turned herself in to police.
Late Thursday afternoon, 18-year-old Caylie Edge turned herself in, more than a week after police said she was involved in the accident which lead to the death of Devin Durden.
Gwinnett County police said Durden, 21, was riding a motorcycle on Sept. 26 when he crashed into a SUV that pulled out in front of him near Gravel Springs Road.
According to police, Edge was the driver of that SUV.
Durden was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Durden was a 2009 graduate of Buford High School and a standout student-athlete, according to Superintendent Dr. Geye S. Hamby. Upon graduation, he received a full scholarship to the Air Force Academy and had just returned home.
Edge was charged with vehicular homicide and failure to yield. She bonded out of jail.
