ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Three accused armed robbers are behind bars after being outsmarted by a smartphone.
Atlanta police told CBS Atlanta the men took a women's purse and iPhone at gunpoint.
"I gave them both to him," the victim said.
The victim saw the suspect get into an older model gray Jeep Cherokee with two other men.
Officers responded to the scene and started to track the iPhone using the Find My iPhone app.
Officers tracked the phone to Peachtree Street at North Avenue. When one of the officers saw the Jeep Cherokee, he made a traffic stop and detained the three men.
While the officers were speaking with the men, the victim's phone started making noise in the front passenger side seat.
"The phone started buzzing so we knew that was phone we were tracking," Atlanta police representative Kim Jones said.
The victim was able to identify that Carlos Johnson, 39, was the man who pointed the a gun at her.
Police said Johnson is a convicted felon and is currently on probation.
The property was returned to the victim.
Kelvin Antonio Gaston and Clifton Kilpatrick were charged with armed robbery.
