PAULDING COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Detectives are still investigating a child abuse case in Paulding County.

Police said Paul and Sheila Comer locked their son, Mitch, in a room with little food for years, then shipped him to California on a bus after he turned 18.

Investigators said they've taken their investigation on the road, talking to family members from Ohio.

They've also begun interviewing the Comers' two daughters.

The Comer daughters are still in foster care and are trying to get a sense of normalcy in their life, according to police.

Mitch Comer is being cared for by a local family and continues to "thrive" in his new setting.

Detectives said Mitch is doing well and gained 10 pounds last week.
