PHILADELPHIA (CBS ATLANTA/CBS 3) -
The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating an incident in which a police supervisor appeared to punch a woman in the face.
The video, which went viral on the Internet after being uploaded to YouTube, was shot at 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue on Sunday.
According to CBS 3 in Philadelphia, the officer thought the woman had thrown water on him during Sunday's Puerto Rican Day celebration.
In the video, a group of officers can be seen surrounding a car.
About 2 seconds into the video, a person in a black long-sleeved shirt and black shorts can be seem throwing water on the officers.
A police supervisor in a white uniform shirt then turned around to see a woman wearing a short-sleeve black shirt and blue jeans, and carrying a water bottle and Puerto Rican flag.
As the unidentified woman started to walk away, the officer approached her from behind and punched her in the face.
The video shows the woman being led away in handcuffs with blood on her face.
According to CBS 3, the woman was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
