ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Prior to the Atlanta Braves' final road trip of the regular season, Delta Air Lines dedicated the team's charter flight to Chipper Jones, plastering his jersey number 10 on the side of the fuselage.

The Braves' third baseman has said he will retire after the season is over, and Delta's recognition is just the latest in a season full of honors and tributes to the future Hall of Fame player.

"It looks good. I like having that big number 10 on the side," said Jones with a smile on his face as he approached the plane.

"It's a great cap to the weekend. It's been overwhelming. The support, the love, the texts, the emails, the tweets, everything. It's been something I'll never forget."

Delta has operated the Braves' charter flights since the team came to Atlanta in 1966. Some of the flight attendants on board the jet Sunday said they'd flown with Jones since the now 40-year-old was a rookie in 1993.

The Braves have three more regular season games left in Pittsburgh against the Pirates, before preparing for their first playoff game either Friday or Saturday.

Delta CEO Richard Anderson presented Jones with two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the world to celebrate his retirement when the season finally comes to an end.
