Georgia prosecutors weigh reported Craigslist rape

Posted: Updated:
ATHENS, GA (AP) -

Prosecutors in northeast Georgia are weighing whether to press charges against a man accused of raping a woman he met through the Craigslist website.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports Oconee County sheriff's deputies turned over details of their investigation last week to prosecutors. Sheriff Scott Berry says it's "a difficult case."

A woman from Bogart reported Sept. 18 that a man she met through Craigslist came to her home and abused and raped her. Authorities have not said why the two people arranged a meeting. The website is used for everything from selling used furniture to posting personal ads.

Berry says deputies have questioned the man being accused. But his office has released few other details.
