CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A wife is desperately pleading for justice after her husband of 15 years was gunned down in his own driveway.

Police swarmed the Clayton County neighborhood where Demba Balde was shot searching for leads.

Now his widow, Marie Balde, is left to struggle through the pain.

"It's really, really hard," said Marie Balde. "Really hard on the family. Really hard on everybody, you know, the kids. I don't know how to console the kids."

Demba Balde was shot and killed Tuesday morning just outside of his Riverdale home - he was unloading groceries when police say he was ambushed by a gunman. When Demba Balde tried to run away, he was shot and killed and he died in his neighbor's yard.

"He was a really good person," said Marie Balde. "He was a people person, somebody who was good to everyone."

The family is left with the 4-year-old daughter Brianna and the 13-year-old son Sherno, who now have to grow up without their father.

"Why somebody have to go like that?" begged Marie Balde. "Why, that's all we want to know. Reach inside yourself, all we want to have is closure."

Investigators are piecing together information they collected from the neighborhood canvass, hoping to spur some new leads.
