ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Hundreds of Apple fans camped out in front of stores Thursday night into Friday morning waiting for the release of the new iPhone 5.
"You get LTE, a faster phone," said Joe White from Smyrna who spent nearly 24 hours outside the AT&T store in Buckhead.
"It's crazy. I mean, Apple has some loyal fans," said Elizabeth Lamb of Atlanta who joined nearly 300 people outside the Apple Store at Lenox Square Mall.
Donny McKinnies from Atlanta started waiting in line at AT&T at 10 a.m. Thursday for the Friday release at 8 a.m. He brought a van loaded with an espresso machine and even a T. V.
In the end, McKinnies was the first customer at that location to get the iPhone 5, but was it worth the wait?
"Oh yeah, definitely. It's more than I thought it would be," said McKinnies as he examined his new device.
The phone retails between $200 and $400. It has a larger four-inch screen, supports faster 4G mobile networks, and comes with a number of software updates.
Some analysts expected Apple to sell up to 10 million phones in the remaining days of September.
