ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
If you're headed to Piedmont Park Friday or Saturday for the two-day Music Midtown festival, you might want to save yourself some headaches by leaving your car at home.
Organizers are encouraging concert-goers to take MARTA, since parking spots will be scarce in midtown Atlanta all weekend.
If you choose to take your chances on a midtown parking spot, people who live there ask that you be considerate.
"If you block a driveway, that's bad," said midtown Atlanta resident Paul Johnson. "If you throw litter on someone's house, that's bad. But in general, we're tolerant of the festivals. We really like the festivals."
Music Midtown returns for a second year at Piedmont Park after a six-year hiatus due to decline in attendance and rising expenses. From 1994-2005, it was a three-day event with acts performing on six stages, attracting 300,000 music lovers during its peak years.
Last year's festival was a one-day event. This year's event spans two days, with a diverse lineup of acts performing on two stages.
Friday's performances include Van Hunt at 4 p.m., Joan Jett & The Blackhearts at 5:15 p.m., T.I. at 6:15 p.m., the Avett Brothers at 7:30 p.m. and Foo Fighters at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, the lineup is O'Brother at 1 p.m., Civil Twilight at 1:30 p.m., LP at 2 p.m., Garbage at 2:45 p.m., Adam Ant at 3:45 p.m., Ludacris at 4:45 p.m., Neon Trees at 5:45 p.m., Florence & the Machine at 6:45 p.m., Girl Talk at 8 p.m. and Pearl Jam at 9 p.m.
Tickets have jumped from $55 for a one-day pass to $65. Weekend passes start at $100. For more information, go to www.musicmidtown.com.
