STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Lexington Park subdivision is on edge even with the arrest of four suspects in a burglary that left a man dead. They are planning on holding a meeting Thursday to make their neighborhood safer.
Last week, police said four men in their late teens and early 20s broke into the Cantrell house on Sept. 11. Ronnie Cantrell Sr. and his adult son came home and interrupted the burglary. Officers said both Cantrells were shot and a few days later the elder Cantrell died. The younger Cantrell is expected to be OK.
Neighbors said they want to make sure a crime like that doesn't happen again.
"Now we are more in tune with who's coming into our neighborhood. If we see people we don't routinely see, we call the police," said a resident who didn't want to be identified because she's afraid. "We are on heightened alert."
Residents said they will put more effort into a neighborhood watch program and are considering making it a gated community.
