STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Stockbridge City Councilwoman Robin Buschman said she's concerned about Stockbridge Mayor Lee Stuart. She said Stuart was behind a road rage incident targeting her Tuesday night.
Buschman said it happened at the intersection of North Berry Street and Jim Clark Drive. She said Stuart's SUV stopped at the stop sign on North Berry while she stopped at the stop sign on Jim Clark.
"I decided to put my car in reverse to avoid the agitation. The SUV turned on this side road, not on the way to their home, and proceeded to floor the car and narrowly miss me by three inches," Buschman said.
The councilwoman filed a police report in response to the alleged incident. Buschman said the man who she once had a five-year romantic relationship with is out to get her.
She's not the only one that thinks that.
"These are physical things that have been done by the mayor and it's a continuing process on his part," said Richard Steinberg, a Stockbridge city councilman.
"It's an outrageous, false lie. My wife was the one driving, not me. My wife and me have agreed we will both take a polygraph test if Ms. Buschman will, and then whoever lies sells their home, moves out of Stockbridge and resigns from city council," Stuart said.
But the controversy surrounding Stuart doesn't stop there. Thursday night he will face new ethics charges, with more on the way, connected to a city council meeting earlier this year.
"He also violated state law and state statue by releasing private information of applicants for city positions," said Kathy Gilbert, a former Stockbridge city councilwoman.
However, Stuart remains undeterred.
"Did you do that," asked CBS Atlanta Reporter Bernard Watson.
"I'd have to see what they are talking about. They make so many allegations, this is a crescendo. They want me out because I'm calling their hand," Stuart said.
