ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Midtown Atlanta residents say they're more cautious after learning about recent break-ins.
Three happened at Cornerstone Village at Sixth and Peachtree. In two of the cases, someone broke into a ground-floor unit apartment and stole a laptop. Another person had TVs, jewelry and cash taken.
Karen Todson arrived home one night to a mess.
"I noticed there was glass all over my bed and the floor, so I lifted up my blinds and noticed my window had been punched in. So he went in through the window, unlocked it and went in through the window there," Todson said.
She lives on the ground floor. Her company laptop was stolen.
"You totally feel violated. I feel lucky. It sounds like this guy is only taking electronics he can go to the pawn shop with," Todson said.
A second ground floor unit was broken into the same way. Two laptops, an iPad and bags were all stolen. Another unit had TVs, cash and jewelry taken.
The trend has other residents on high alert.
"It doesn't seem like that bad of an area, but just the fact that they're all centralized in just this one place," Adam Fiddler said.
Residents said they'll be more cautious.
"If you see something, say something. Even if you're wrong, it's better to be wrong than not say anything. If I do see something, I try to act on it," resident Chris Depweg said.
Todson added a security system to her place. She wants to see the thief caught.
"I hope we find him. It's just mean and hateful," Todson said.
Police said there is a vague description off surveillance video. The man has a pot belly and carries a black bag with him.
