Roswell hires new deputy chief of police

SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The city of Roswell has hired a new deputy police chief.

James Russell "Rusty" Grant currently serves as the special agent in charge of the Regional Drug Office in Canton for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Grant has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience with particular expertise in investigating violent crime, property crime, drug enforcement and technology, according to a city release.

Grant holds a master's degree in public administration from Columbus State University and a bachelor's of business administration from Kennesaw State University.

He will begin serving as Roswell's deputy chief of police on Oct. 1, 2012.
