Michael Turner
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner, 30, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Gwinnett County on charges of DUI and speeding.
A Gwinnett County police officer stopped Turner on I-85 northbound, just south of Steve Reynolds Blvd., after he clocked his black Audi R8 going 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Police said the officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from Turner and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation.
Turner was arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. He was released a short time later on bond.
Turner had just helped his team to victory over the Denver Broncos by scoring a touchdown Monday night.
What does this mean for the star player?
The Falcons released this statement:
"We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time."
