BUFORD, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Gwinnett County fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire in Buford Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out around noon at a home on Old Spring Way.
A caller to the 911 call center said that they could see heavy smoke coming from the house. They tried to check to see if anyone was in the house, but said the door handle was too hot to touch.
Firefighters arrived and found the fire was contained to the kitchen area and there was smoke throughout the house.
The residents weren't home at the time of the fire, but arrived as the fire was being brought under control.
Two adults and two children will be displaced and are in the process of contacting their homeowners insurance company.
No injuries were reported.
