Quarterback Connor Shaw has again been knocked out of a game for No. 8 South Carolina after hurting his throwing shoulder.
Shaw took a hard hit to his right shoulder just after releasing a 20-yard pass to Bruce Ellington late in the second quarter Saturday against UAB. The junior walked off the field with his arm hanging limp.
Athletic officials say Shaw aggravated the bruise he suffered in the Gamecocks 17-13 season opening win over Vanderbilt.
Shaw completed eight of 14 passes for 107 yards and an interception and a touchdown as the Gamecocks lead UAB 21-6 at halftime.
Sophomore Dylan Thompson again replaced Shaw. Thompson started last week's 48-10 win over East Carolina, throwing for 330 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
