ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Residents at Clifton Royale apartments are grateful after a last-minute miracle saved them from eviction.
On Monday the city of East Point announced it would shut the water off because the former landlord had not paid his $50,000 bill.
But that all changed late Friday.
CBS Atlanta found out that a new landlord paid half of that bill, and residents were no longer being forced to move out.
This is the last-minute miracle resident Kokeba Griffin prayed for.
"God works good, he really does," Griffin said.
Early Friday morning, Griffin was distraught by the city's order to vacate after her landlord didn't pay his water bill.
But tonight she is happy she can remain in her home.
"I'm so relieved right now," Griffin said.
