Decatur police arrested a man who allegedly tried to conceal the death of his mother.
On Wednesday, someone requested a welfare check of Evelyn Johnston who lived on Glendale Avenue with her son.
The caller said she had not been able to contact with Johnston for several weeks.
According to reports, Charles Johnston was evasive on the phone as to the whereabouts of his mother.
Once inside the home, officers spoke with Johnston who said his mother was deceased.
Officers located the body of the woman inside in an advanced stage decomposition.
The incident is under investigation and no names have been released in this case.
