ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

CBS Atlanta's Adam Murphy made an appearance on The Regular Guys show on Rock 100.5 FM Wednesday morning to raise awareness for a rare brain disease called progressive supranuclear palsy, also known as PSP.

Adam's mom, Janice, was diagnosed with it two years ago and is currently battling the horrible effects of the disease. It is a neurodegenerative brain disease that has no known cause, treatment or cure. It affects nerve cells that control walking, balance, mobility, vision, speech and swallowing.

"I appreciate The Regular Guys sharing their stage with me to help get the word out about PSP," Murphy said.

In an attempt to raise awareness about the disease, which is often misdiagnosed, and to raise money for a cure, Adam has organized the Cure PSP Dine Out called Miracle for Mom for Tuesday, Sept. 25 at South City Kitchen in the Vinings. More than 100 people have already made a reservation to attend the event. The restaurant will be donating 20 percent of their total sales that evening to finding a cure.

"I am so humbled by the support of the community. This is going to be a special night for my mom and others with PSP," Murphy said.

If you are able to attend, make a reservation with the restaurant anytime between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. by calling 770-435-0700. Be sure to let them know you are dining out for a cure. For more information on PSP or to make a donation, go to https://give.psp.org/miracleformom.
