ATHENS, GA (CBS ATLANTA/AP) -
University of Georgia police say they've suspended one of their officers after a woman accused him of sodomizing her.
The 28-year-old woman, who is not affiliated with the school, filed a complaint Thursday with Athens-Clarke police alleging the assault happened in May.
UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said the 28-year-old officer, whose name has not been released, was immediately placed on paid leave pending the outcome of criminal and internal investigations.
The officer, who has been with the UGA Police Department for 3 years, has not been charged with a crime.
The police report said the woman told police that she and the officer had known each other for a few years.
