EAST POINT, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A rash of armed robberies has some East Point residents scared. Gunmen are ambushing people as they return to their homes late at night. The last three robberies happened in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
One victim worries the men who robbed him at gunpoint could return so he's asked CBS Atlanta to conceal his identity and to call him by a fake name, John.
"I was coming home from working out at the gym," John said.
John had just pulled into his driveway when the crooks ordered him to empty his pockets. But when they asked if he had anything else, he told the crooks he had more property inside the house - and they got away with a lot of loot.
"A TV, computer, a watch, and jewelry," John said. "It happened within just like a minute. They didn't have a car or anything they just ran down the street."
An electrician was held at gunpoint while working on a remodeling project at a home on Brookdale Drive last Thursday.
And on Labor Day, a man was held a gun point after pulling into his driveway at his home on Bayard Street - the gunman took off with the victim's cell phone and wallet. And just last Wednesday, John was robbed right in his front yard on Jefferson Avenue.
Neighbors said they've seen more police patrolling the area, and folks are keeping their eyes peeled for suspicious activity.
