DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Jurors in the beating death trial of a Douglas County teenager heard a taped police interview with the young man on trial.

Tracen Franklin faces the death penalty for his role in the murder of Bobby Tillman outside a party in November 2010. He is one of four people charged.

The interview was recorded hours after the beating. During the interview, Franklin first denies being involved in the attack, then admits he hit Tillman.

"Covering his face. I um, did throw a punch or two, maybe three. Then after that it was a rush of people that came from behind me. A bunch of other dudes. Who also proceeded to punch and kick him. Did I kick him? Yes, I did. Maybe once."

Franklin later admits to kneeing Tillman in the stomach.

The trial resumes back up on Monday morning.
