ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Mosquitos are killing more people in the United States.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new numbers on the West Nile Virus outbreak.
The number of reported cases went up 25 percent in the past week, to nearly 2,000.
Eighty-seven people have died from the infection this year.
The hardest hit states are Texas, South Dakota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Michigan.
Almost 45 percent of all cases have been reported from Texas.
