Cobb County police find woman's body in yard, charge man with murder

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police are investigating a murder that happened on Sunday evening in Cobb County.

After getting a report that gunshots were heard near a home in the 2000 block of Olive Springs Road, police officers were sent to check it out, according to Cobb County investigators.

When officers arrived at the home, they found 53-year-old Lydia King in the yard. It appeared that she had died from gunshot wounds.

Police later arrested 55-year-old Joe King for Lydia King's death, and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault.

Police didn't release the relation between the victim and suspect, if any.

Joe King is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
